1 Litre of Tears - 15 Years Old — The Sickness Sneaks In (Part II)
Seeing The Doctor

I go to the hospital in Nagoya with my mother. We depart at 9 am. My little sister is not in good health but she still needs to go to the nursery. This is because I need to go to the hospital... Pity her. At 11.00 am, we arrived at the hospital (National Nagoya University affiliated Hospital). I was waiting for about 3 hours while reading a book nervously. With this feeling of uneasiness and concern, I could not go through the book like always. "I've called Prof. Sofue Itsurou. I'm sure you'll be fine", said Mom. At last, I was called out. My heart was pounding hard. Mom explains everything about my condition to the doctor.

  1. About falling and cutting my chin. A normal person will hold out their hands inorder to break them from the fall. However, I hit my face directly to the ground.

  2. The way I'm walking. It seems unstable. (I can bend my knees only a little)

  3. I've been losing weight.

  4. My movements are slow. (I've lost my ability to move quickly)

Listening to it, I've becoming more and more afraid. My mom who always seems busy, walking around is actually observing me every minute. She can see everything that's on my mind that worries me. However, I'm relieved. With this, the things that I've been worrying secretly by myself have been shared with the doctor. The problems will now be solved. Sitting on the round chair, I looked at my doctor's face. Wearing a glasses, with a friendly grin and a gentle look, I feel relieved. He told me to close my eyes, spread my hands widely, and try to bring my index finger together. Then, I need to stand on one leg. Next, I lie down on the bed, stretched out my legs and try to bend it. Then, he hit my knees lightly with a hammer. After all of the examination is done, it's finally over. "Let's do a CT scan", the doctor said. "Aya, it won't hurt at all. The machine will only look inside your brain by round slices", my mom said. "Huh?! ROUND SLICES?!". It is a serious matter for the person who is undergoing the examination herself. A large machine comes down slowly to me from above. My head gets into it completely and it is like I'm in a spaceship. "Do not move. You just need to lie down and stay still", the doctor with the white coat said. So, If I stay still, I'll doze and become sleepy. We waited for a long time before getting my medicine and go back home. I got one more thing to add to my list. If by drinking the medicine will make it better, I will not complain it even if it will make my stomach full. Doctor, I'm begging you. Please help Aya-san, in order to not making anything goes wrong in her blooming bud life. He said it's better to go back and forth to the hospital once a month as the hospital is far from my school. I will make sure that I will go to the hospital as schedule. Everything that was told, I will obey precisely. So please, cure me. The people of Nagoya University! Dr. Sofue! Please help me!
